Is Everything Really “Okay”? We Say This Word Too Much

Daily writing prompt
What is a word you feel that too many people use?

Is everything okay?

Think about how many times a day you hear or say “okay.” It’s everywhere in our talks, like a verbal safety net we use without even thinking.

We say “okay” for so many things: “Are we meeting at 3? Okay.” “The report is due tomorrow. Okay.” Sometimes we even say it just to fill a quiet moment. While it seems harmless, using “okay” all the time can make our talks less clear.

When we always say “okay,” we miss chances to use better, more interesting words. Instead of just “okay,” try saying things like: “Sounds good,” “Got it,” “Understood,” “Alright,” or even just nodding your head.
